If you have seen NBC's Hannibal, then you already know that Mads Mikkelsen has the acting chops to portray the most evil of characters with wicked ease. With his dark, seemingly soulless eyes, Mikkelsen has captivated us for three seasons as the TV adaptation of infamous Dr. Hannibal Lecter.

And now that the series is now coming to a close, it appears that the actor could potentially play a role alongside another kind of doctor.

According to Variety, Marvel is reportedly on the hunt to have the Hannibal star play a villain in its upcoming film Doctor Strange, slated for next fall.

Starring Benedict Cumberbatch in the lead role, Doctor Strange follows the story of former neurosurgeon Stephen Vincent Strange, who becomes the next Sorcerer Supreme and protector of Earth against any magical threat.

Marvel is allegedly in early talks with Mikkelsen in regards to his playing a nemesis in the film, although the villain remains unnamed. However, we already know that Chiwetel Ejiofor has been cast in the film as the villain Baron Mordo, leaving us to wonder if Mikkelsen will play the Doctor Strange's foe Dormammu, who first made his debut in 1964's Strange Tales #126 and continued to appear through six decades of Marvel comics.

Created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, Dormammu is a powerful mystical being who comes head-to-head with Strange in the "Dark Dimension" after his intentions to conquer the universe become known.

It would be great to see Mikkelsen and Cumberbatch battle it out on the big screen; however, it may be some time before any official announcements are made.

This is not the first time Marvel has tried to hunt the Hannibal actor down for a role. It previously eyed Mikkelsen to play the villain Malekith in Thor: The Dark World, but the actor passed up the role in order to play Lecter.

It seems that although Hannibal is on its last leg, the actor will rise with more high-profile roles. Mikkelsen has recently been cast in Star Wars: Rogue One, which debuts December 16, 2016.

Marvel's Doctor Strange will hit theaters November 4, 2016.
