The upcoming Sims 4 expansion pack Get Together will introduce Clubs into the game — allowing your Sims to join the group of their choosing with its very own preferences and personalities, as clubs tend to have. That may seem all well and good for your Sims, but the new gameplay with Clubs will actually make them lose some control.

Every Club also has its own rules and way of doing things, which will actually supersede the autonomy your Sims have in the game. If you don't tell your Sims what to do, they usually do what they want, first motivated by their physical needs, then followed by how their Traits dictate that they should act.

However, Club rules will have your Sims acting unlike themselves, as social interaction tends to do to people in real life. When Sims are with their fellow Club members in what the game refers to as a Club Gathering, they will act according to the Club's rules.

"Characteristically peaceful Sims might start a brawl if they're in a Fight Club, and shy Sims could end up being amorous if their Flirty Club encourages it," The Sims 4 producer Antonio Romeo wrote in a post on the game's website.

Of course, if you're really not a fan of your Sim's uncharacteristic behavior, the only person you have to blame for that is yourself. That's because Club rules are set by you — which means you control who's allowed in, where Club members meet and what they wear. You can even decide how your Sim's Club interacts with another group.

Clubs can have 10 rules in total: five encouraged rules and five discouraged rules. With that limited amount, Sims can "stand out" and be "different and interesting," because if they have too many attributes, you might not be able to recognize the behaviors that are unique to the Club, Romeo wrote. And we all know that you definitely want to keep a Fight Club separate from your regular life.

The Sims 4 Get Together will be released in November.
