Got a sweet tooth? You might want to invest in the Magic Candy Factory, a 3D printer that can produce real-life customized gummies for you to eat.
Designed by the candy company Katjes, the printer was revealed on Friday, August 28 in Berlin, Germany. Reps in a video showcasing the printer opine that it is the "first printer for food to reach the consumer market."
To produce the candy, a cartridge filled with gummy goodness is placed in a chamber located above the "nozzle" of the 3D printer, which acts as a sort of decorating tip. The chamber heats up, along with the contents inside of the cartridge, and churns out pre-programmed specified shapes through a pump syringe selected by the customer (examples include an octopus, a strawberry and more) and onto a plate.
Candy fans can choose different designs and flavors for their gummies, each of which cost €5.00 ($5.60 USD).
The printer will be on display at Berlin's Café Grün-Ohr for the next eight weeks.
