Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is one heck of a game. After receiving near-perfect scores, the game is now out in the wild for players to enjoy. From Silent Hills Easter eggs to kidnapping bears, Hideo Kojima's open-world magnum opus seems to be delighting gamers everywhere.

That goes double when it's your birthday. In one of the coolest video game Easter eggs in recent memory, Metal Gear Solid V actually celebrates your birthday with a special cinematic.

At the start of the game, players are asked to input their birthday. Turns out that little piece of information is actually used for something after all. If you return to Mother Base on your date of birth, you'll find the place oddly quiet.

Suddenly loud bangs can be heard. Snake draws his sidearm in defense, only to realize fireworks are being shot off. Then Snake's Diamond Dog compatriots appear and start singing "Happy Birthday" as music plays in the background. A smile creeps over Snake's face and it's hard not to smile yourself.

Then the cake is brought out, complete with the Diamond Dog logo. Snake is given a cigar — one that Miller promptly takes away from him. Then the whole group laughs and claps. Run around Mother Base and you'll find that your soldiers will stop to wish you happy birthday as well. You can watch the whole scene play out below.

It's a great touch to an already great game, and one that will put a smile on the face of many a gamer come their birthday. Well done, Kojima. Well done.
