Sure, it's no washing machine, but Samsung showed off its latest TV peripheral, the ultra high-definition Blu-ray player, a new, curved Blu-ray player that offers up to four times the resolution and up to 64 times the color expression of standard players.

The player, which is curved to match the company's curved 4K displays, also offers upscaling to UHD for older HD media, a useful feature since UHD Blu-rays won't be backwards compatible with existing players. The UBS-K8500 player is set to launch in Europe early next year. There's no date yet for a U.S. release, though 20th Century Fox did hit the stage to announce its commitment to release UHD Blu-ray disks, including a 4K version of spy movie Kingsman: The Secret Service.
