Well, we all knew this was bound to happen sooner or later - and now I finally have the smartwatch to prove it. According to Alcatel OneTouch's new smartwatch, which claims to detect its wearer's emotions, I am currently going crazy.

Also, I'm hungry and need to throw up (?). Fair enough. Actually, I'm not 100 percent clear on that last point. When I attempt to find out how I was feeling for the third time, the watch displayed the words "Go Dive," along with an image that appeared to show a stick figure throwing up in the toilet.

The nice lady helping out at the booth couldn't figure out what that meant, either - though it does feel like the beginning of a scene from Trainspotting. Point is, I'm going crazy, hungry, and in dire need of a good purge. I can say with some certainty that at least two of the three are fairly accurate.

It's a fun feature - kind of a high-tech (ish) mood ring that uses the watch's on-board sensors to create some approximate overview of the wearer's emotional state, be it crazy, hungry, or pukey (or others, I assume). It was certainly interesting enough to help the bulky, plasticky watch stand out in a sea of smartwatch announcements at this year's IFA.

How that will translate into actual sales is yet to be seen, because as far as the watch can determine, I'm no psychic - even if my sanity does remain an open question.
