Twitter has given its iOS app a makeover. Now, users of iPad, iPhone, as well as iPod touch get treated to a good-looking, more unified look and feel of the Twitter's iOS app.

Twitter, dubbed as a free social networking microblogging service, has rolled out Tuesday an update to its iOS app which touts to boast of responsive design tweak.

In a post it shared over its official blog site, Twitter pointed out that iPad users are the ones who are highly affected by the update it pushed out.

Apart from the consistent experience, a lot of features previously available on iPhone now land on iPad.

"Starting today, iPad users will be able to create and see revamped quote Tweets, explore trending topics in search, visit product and place pages, and more," reads the blog post.

Moreover, the latest update now offers a split-screen multitasking view for iPad, the company says.

In implementing this new design philosophy, Twitter is concentrating on specific characteristics: device type, orientation, canvas, size class and typography.

By implementing its new responsive philosophy, which it dubbed the "adaptive UI," it considered various devices as well as characteristics. It says, it looked into the following characteristics: device type (tablet or phone); orientation; canvas; size class (whether the canvas is broad and expansive or small and compact); as well as typography,

Twitter further explained how it made the process. It says it considers the app as a pyramid.

"[M]ost things simply respond automatically, like content width responding to text size changes; some things need to be modified like the Profile header, which would take up half the screen on a large device if we didn't modify the layout," it says.

Additionally, a few of the components needed to be completely rethought, which include Direct Messages.

Based on the app description on the App Store, the new version 6.36 comes in 62.7 MB. Moreover, the app can also be downloaded for free.

The app, which requires iOS 7.0 or later, is compatible with iPhone, iPad, as well as iPod touch.

"This app is optimized for iPhone 5, iPhone 6, and iPhone 6 Plus," reads the description.
