Latest rumors suggest that the rumored Samsung Galaxy S7 may sport a magnesium alloy chassis and a unibody design.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge that were launched in March 2014 sported an aluminum frame and the predecessors of the handsets all had a plastic body. A Korean publication called iNews24 reports that the next-generation Galaxy S7 will have stronger magnesium alloy body.

Samsung may have chosen magnesium alloy for the Galaxy S7 as it is 2.8 times stronger than the aluminum and also weighs 65 percent less than aluminum.

Top-end smartphones include fast processors that generate a lot of heat. Users of smartphones running on Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor have complained of overheating issues. Such issues have detracted many potential customers from buying handsets running on Snapdragon 810 processor.

Magnesium may be a better choice for many smartphone makers as it gets less hot when compared to aluminum - a feature, which will attract many smartphone buyers.

While the Galaxy S6 had an aluminum frame, the handset still had a back that was made of plastic. The reports also claim  that the Galaxy S7 will have a unibody design, which will make the Galaxy S7 the first ever Samsung flagship to be fully made of metal.

The Galaxy S6 sported a 5.1-inch quad HD display with 2,560 x 1,440 pixels resolution. While Samsung has not revealed any features of the upcoming Galaxy S7, previous rumors suggest that the smartphone will boast a bigger 5.7-inch quad HD display in comparison to its predecessor but will pack in the same 2,560 x 1,440 pixels resolution.

Some speculations note that Samsung will launch two variants of the Galaxy S7: one running on Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor and the other on Exynos 8890 processor.

The upcoming Galaxy S7 is also believed to be equipped with a 16MP rear-facing camera and a 5MP front-facing camera. The mobile phone is estimated to include 4GB of RAM and 64GB of on-board storage.

Google is expected to release Android 6.0 Marshmallow towards the end of this year. Samsung smartphone enthusiasts will hope that the Galaxy S7 comes running on the latest Android operating system straight out of the box.

Samsung has not revealed any specs or release date for the Galaxy S7. However, market observers believe that Samsung will showcase the smartphone in the first quarter of 2016. Till then all rumors about the Galaxy S7 will be taken with a pinch of salt.
