With Samsung gearing up to make its Samsung Pay - the mobile payment rival to google Wallet and Apple Pay - official on Sept. 28 in the U.S., carrier T-Mobile has begun pushing out updates to several Samsung smartphones in preparation for its launch.

On Friday, Sept. 25, T-Mobile began pushing out an update for the Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S6 Edge + and Galaxy S6 as validated the support documents from the carrier.

The Samsung Pay update for the Galaxy Note 5 has the build number N920TUVU2COI5 and weighs 30.72MB.

The Samsung Pay update for the Galaxy S6 Edge and the Galaxy S6 Edge+ has the build numbers G925TUVU3DOI1 and G928TUVU2COI5, respectively and weighs 30.58MB and 59.96MB.

The build for the Galaxy S6 is G920TUVU3DOI1 and is the heaviest of the lot, weighing 62.78MB.

The T-Mobile update is an over-the-air (OTA) one and will make its way to the carrier's subscribers of the above-mentioned handsets from Sept. 5 to Oct. 9.

In case of the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge, the update is also said to bring support for T-Mobile's RCS messaging and video calling features. While T-Mobile only mentions in the changelog that the update will bring bug fixes and improvements, the update will add the Samsung Pay app to the smartphone (even though an older update brought the app to a few devices).

Samsung Pay will only be available on the company's flagship 2015 devices that have carrier support once it launches on Monday, Sept. 28, in the U.S.

Samsung's mobile payment system is different from other existing services as it can work with maximum POS terminals. This is made possible as it deploys a Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) and NFC technologies.

Samsung Pay is already gaining popularity in its home country South Korea. With wireless payment fast gaining preference with consumers, it remains to be seen if Samsung Pay will catch on in other parts of the world as well.
