Robbie Amell is currently busy playing Ronnie Raymond/Firestorm in "The Flash" but has admitted to being interested in playing Terry McGinnis in a live-action "Batman Beyond" adaptation when given the chance.

Amell was asked by a fan during a panel at the Salt Lake City Comic Con if he was willing to play McGinnis if a "Batman Beyond" movie came out, promptly replying that he's a huge fan of the idea. Unfortunately, he thinks that he'd be too old to play the character by the time a "Batman Beyond" live-action movie is even considered.

"By then, I'll probably be the old, crusty Batman," he said.

If and when a live-action "Batman Beyond" becomes more than an idea, Amell offers a few suggestions, saying that the smartest move would be to come up with an adaptation with a $30-million budget, not a $200-million blockbuster. Given the technology available now, he is confident that you wouldn't need hundreds of millions for the necessary visual effects for a dark and gritty adaptation.

"Make it a nice, grounded character piece," Amell added, before admitting that his idea probably means nothing because he doesn't run the studios.

It may sound odd to do a "Batman Beyond" movie but this isn't the first time that anyone has brought the idea up. The animated series may have just ran for three seasons, but it left a tremendous effect on Batman and the concept and character led to new story arcs and several comics series.

Producer Michael Uslan said he'd be interested in seeing Clint Eastwood play the aging Bruce Wayne a few years ago, but an adaptation was being considered as far back as 2000, with Boaz Yakin being tapped to direct. Yakin pitched the idea to accompany a "Batman Year One" film, but that didn't materialize either, instead transforming into "Batman Begins" by Christopher Nolan.

Dark and gritty is DC Entertainment's current take on "Batman Beyond," with Tim Drake taking over for Terry McGinnis in a more dangerous version of Neo Gotham after the events in "The New 52: Futures End."
