AMC released new videos that focus on the evolution of three main characters in The Walking Dead.

Titled "Then and Now," the videos highlight the characters Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln), Michonne (Danai Gurira) and Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride), and have us reminiscing about earlier seasons as we patiently await the start of the next chapter of the hit show. The videos look back on how these characters were introduced, while showcasing just how far they've come. Of course, transforming is only natural after everything they have been through.

In the first video, we see Rick back in his earliest days, scared half to death in the hospital, and then in a later season we get to relive him surviving by biting through a Claimer's jugular, showing how he's transformed into the strong character he is today. And, of course, his children have always motivated him to continue to survive.

"One of the things I love about the show is a lot of the audience have lived with these characters from the get-go, and that's a lot of time to spend with somebody," Lincoln says in the video. "And you sort of know them inside out."

Lincoln touches on the fact that he's had the chance to show lots of different traits that Rick possesses over the years, which has allowed viewers to see different sides of the popular character as he continues to change.

The actor also reveals his favorite scene is when Rick is riding into Atlanta, calling the days they shot the sequence "a dream."

The second character video shows the evolution of Michonne, starting off with that scene where she beheads a walker. Gurira says that the zombie apocalypse has brought out a different side of Michonne, and we see in the clip just how violent and angry this character is.

"What I've enjoyed about her is that she's finding her balance and navigating herself towards more of what she wants to be," Gurira.

The actress talks about an episode special to her, "Clear," where Michonne and Carl start their friendship and her character becomes part of Rick's group.

We also get to look at how far Carol has come since she was introduced. McBride says that Carol's relationship with her now-dead husband, Ed, prior to the apocalypse really prepared her in a major way. We see the scene where Carol teaches the small children about how to use knives, and that unforgettable scene where she blows up the walkers.

McBride reveals that "Grove" is one of her favorite episodes, as we relive the moment when Carol has to shoot Lizzie for the greater good of the group.

"That was a huge turning point and by far the most heartbreaking thing she's ever had to endure," McBride says.

AMC also released a new teaser for the season 6 premiere that shows the gang has no choice but to fight back as walkers zero in on Alexandria.

Season 6 of The Walking Dead premieres at 9 p.m. Oct. 10 EDT on AMC.
