Android Wear launched the latest smartwatch produced by ASUS, the ZenWatch 2.

Android fans that are looking for a digital accessory for their phones are in luck, as ZenWatch 2 is compatible with most Android smartphones to date. A decent-priced, good performance-yielding wearable, the device is ready for pre-orders in the United States and Europe.

The ZenWatch 2 comes in two different sizes: 1.63-inch (41mm) and 1.45-inch (36mm). Even if the public expected the larger version of the Android wearable to be more expensive than the standard version, both variants sell for the identical price of $149. Customization comes from the three stainless-steel colors for the body: Gunmetal, Silver and Rose Gold, alongside with 18 color and material combos for the straps.

Under the stylish display, each version of the Zenwatch 2 has a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor and 512MP of RAM. The difference comes from the screen size and battery. The 1.63-inch version outputs on a 320 by 320 AMOLED screen, powered by a 400mAh battery. The 1.45-inch model uses a 280 x 280 AMOLED display, with a 300mAh battery fueling it. Gorilla Glass and IP67 water resistance are also common for both versions of the ZenWatch 2.

The ZenWatch 2 smartwatch comes with a list of apps and software features ready to assist its wearer in any situation. It supports business as well as training apps, alongside a seamless communication with Android and iOS smartphones. Interaction between ZenWatch 2 wearers that are near one another is easy and fun, as users can send simple messages, emoticons and emojis directly from their wrists.

The release date for ZenWatch 2 is Oct. 9 for several online retailers in the U.S.

Google Play Store sells the ZenWatch 2 for $149. Both versions are available at Bestbuy for the same price. Newegg also takes pre-orders for the Android wearable smartwatch.

For Europe, a press release dating Sept. 2 announces that the gadget will be available for purchase in October. Its cost will be slightly higher than in the U.S. and will set back Android fans €149 (almost $168).

A balanced combination of performance and affordability, Asus ZenWatch 2 is one of the most competitive Android Wear smartwatches so far.
