U.S. Cellular, a regional network carrier that operates within the United States, announced that it is going to streamline and improve its data plan offerings to provide better service to businesses and consumers. The American network carrier now provides a new set of Shared Connect plans and reduced the connection charges.

In a press release, U.S. Cellular expresses that its move to improve its pricing plans is in response to the data plans pricing of competing brands AT&T and Verizon.

"To further back up its guarantee to beat Verizon and AT&T data plans, the company has lowered the cost of all of its Shared Connect plans and simplified its offerings to provide better value for customers," says U.S. Cellular.

As part of its endeavor to better the competition's prices, U.S. Cellular is currently offering a selection of Shared Connect plans, which it calls as data bucket plans: 1 GB, 3 GB, 6 GB, 10 GB, 12 GB, 15 GB and 20 GB. With the bucket plans, the company promises to provide more high-speed data rates that are lower than Verizon's and AT&T's. The carrier notes that aside from the offers being open to new clients, its current subscribers can also shift from their old plans.

"Our customers experience a high-quality network that they can use coast to coast along with unbeatable value on a variety of flexible plans to meet their needs," says Joe Settimi, vice president of marketing for U.S. Cellular.

Under the new data plan scheme, the 1 GB data plan, which was previously listed at $30 per month, will be slashed down to $25. The 6 GB plan is now billed $55 each month while the 10 GB plan has been readjusted to $70 monthly. Prices were cut down by $5 for lower-end offerings to as much as $30 for bigger plans.

U.S. Cellular also chopped down the connection charges for devices that are bundled with the new data bucket plans. If coupled with plans that are 10 GB or higher, the subscriber will have a $15 monthly charge, $20 if the plan is lower than 10 GB.

The carrier also promotes its $0 down payment scheme for consumers that are willing to purchase a handheld from its shelves. The installment scheme can be structured for 20 months. It also offers the option of upgrading to newer models after 12 successful payments. Consumers can pay off the remainder of the device's value at any time. Note that credit approval and a subscription to U.S. Cellular's Shared Connect Plan is required for this installment scheme.
