DJI, a leading manufacturer of unmanned aerial vehicles, channeled its expertise into creating the perfect shake-free camera, the Osmo steadicam. The device has quite a number of interesting and impressive features plus an affordable price tag.

On Thursday, Oct. 8, Chinese tech company DJI, known for its drones and aerial photography systems, launched the Osmo 4K steadicam. As expected, the gadget is highly innovative – and a bit robotic.

Osmo is packed with DJI's breakthrough three-axis gimbal stabilization technology the company uses on its drones, most notably its Phantom drones. From eliminating blurry aerial shots, the stabilization attribute will now ensure users that their travel videos and selfies will be sharp and shake-free.

Users simply have to press the trigger button on Osmo to set the camera's focus. As the user moves Osmo around, the gimbal technology keeps the camera level, retaining the focus. The user can triple-tap the trigger button to have the Osmo spin around for a selfie shot.

Going with the trend, Osmo's integrated camera will shoot in 4K – four times smoother than the already-sharp Full HD. This means the images will have the most exact lighting, precise detail and the most vivid colors. The 12MP camera has a 1/2.3-inch sensor and a 94-degree field-of-view lens.

Osmo also has the ability to take seamless panoramic shots.

"The Automatic Panorama mode makes shooting 360-degree panoramas easier than ever. Just hold the Osmo up above your head and tap the shutter button. The camera will rotate, capturing images as it goes while staying completely level. Don't just get a snapshot of a piece of your travels. Make a memory of the whole scene," wrote DJI on Osmo's page.

Osmo also comes with a phone holder attachment that lets users see the camera view on their smartphones via Wi-Fi video link. Users can also command the camera from their smartphones through Wi-Fi.

DJI's new product is priced at $649, a reasonable tag for the technologies packed in it. Shipping begins Oct. 15.
