Alibaba has long been more popular in China than anywhere else, however it seems as though the company is looking to expand.

To try and reach out to those outside of China, Alibaba has launched Alibaba Defined, which is aimed at helping people better understand what the company is all about.

"Alibaba needs no explanation in China, where consumers interact with our products and services every single day," said Joe Tsai, Alibaba executive vice chairman Joe, in an interview with VentureBeat. "But for those outside of China, who have limited access to our ecosystem, it can be difficult to appreciate our vision, our company and what we are working to achieve."

Alibaba Defined contains a number of different elements that are designed to help users understand the core of Alibaba. It contains letters from Jack Ma, a founder of the company, and Daniel Zhang, the current CEO. It also contains information about modern China, talking about some of the cultural and economic context of China. Next up is the Alibaba Experience, which explains how entrepreneurs use the Alibaba platform to start and run their business. Last but not least, the new website contains "Founded in China, Created for the World," which is a series of videos that shows how Alibaba is building its e-commerce and payments platform for the future.

While Alibaba has certainly grown a lot since it first started in 1999, Alibaba Defined essentially brings Alibaba back to its roots to showcase the company's outlook for the future.
