Rumors of the ZTE Nubia X8 have been doing the rounds for many months and now images of the handset have appeared online and show the device sporting a gold hue.

Smartphone makers such as Apple, Samsung, LG, Microsoft and HTC are some of the well-known brands in the United States. While ZTE has a small brand presence in the United States, the Chinese telecommunication equipment maker still accounts for a big chunk of the unlocked handsets market.

According to the Wall Street Journal, ZTE is the fourth-largest smartphone vendor in the United States by shipments.

"In the first quarter, ZTE had 5.5 percent of the U.S. smartphone market in the first quarter, behind Apple Inc. of the U.S., Samsung, and LG Electronics Inc," per the Wall Street Journal.

A teaser with the Nubia logo has been found on the company's official Weibo page, which reveals that ZTE is holding an event on Thursday, Oct. 15. GizmoChina has leaked some images of the Nubia X8 and many smartphone enthusiasts believe that the phone will be showcased at the October event.

If the leaked images are to be believed, then the Nubia X8 will come with touch-sensitive volume buttons. The upcoming ZTE phone is also estimated to get a fingerprint scanner that will be integrated in the power button of the device.

The leaked images show the side of the Nubia X8 but previous rumors have hinted that the handset may have extremely thin bezels.

The company has not announced any specs of the Nubia X8 but previous rumors suggest that the handset will sport either a 5.5-inch or a 6-inch qHD display with 2,560 x 1,440 resolution.

Details of the processor remain unknown so far but the Nubia X8 may get 4GB of RAM for high performance. The device is rumored to come running on a massive 5,120mAh battery.

The Nubia X8 is expected to be available in 32GB and 64GB storage models and probably with the option to expand the memory with a microSD card.

While the leaked specs of the Nubia X8 seems quite impressive for a mobile device in the mid segment it remains to be seen if it will be launched in the United States or not.
