Meizu is expected to launch a Blue Charm Metal smartphone soon and newly-leaked renders now show an impressively sleek metallic design.

The purported Meizu Blue Charm Metal is still shrouded in mystery for the most part, but some pre-release renders that now surfaced online hint at a premium design that may have fans drooling. The handset will apparently come in a range of neat color options, albeit the blue avatar is apparently raising the most interest.

The renders come from Chinese site Anzhuo, which posted several images of the smartphone and the invitation to Meizu's upcoming event next week, on Oct. 21. The images show a premium aluminum body with a sleek uninterrupted design, unlike the recently-unveiled Meizu Pro 5 that comes with some cutout stripes.

The upcoming smartphone will join Meizu's Blue Charm series, arriving as the first member of that lineup to boast a premium metallic design. The blue Charm series consists of mid-range handsets with budget-friendly price tags, and the Blue Charm Metal is expected to retain the affordability of its predecessors.

When it comes to specifications, rumors so far have indicated that the Meizu Blue Charm Metal will feature a 5.5-inch full HD display, a 2GHz octa-core processor and 2GB of RAM under the hood. Other rumored specs include 16GB of internal storage space, expandable up to 128GB via microSD, a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel selfie cam. In terms of software, the handset is expected to run YunOS 3.1.6.

In other words, the smartphone may come with upper mid-range specs that may warrant a slightly higher price compared to other devices in the Meizu Blue Charm series, but it should nonetheless come with a decent price tag.

No additional information is available at this point and these rumored specifications remain unconfirmed for now, but the big unveiling is just around the corner. Meizu should offer more details on specs, pricing and availability at its launch event next on Oct. 21, so we'll soon have the official scoop straight from the source. In the meantime, it's highly recommended to take all rumors with a grain of salt.
