Just a week after Microsoft unveiled the Surface Pro 4, another new convertible laptop will serve up some competition later this month.

Toshiba announced Tuesday that its new Satellite Radius 12 convertible laptop will be available Oct. 18 at Best Buy stores and through BestBuy.com, as well as at Microsoft stores and through Toshiba's official online store. The standard HD version of the device will retail for $999.99, and the 4K Ultra HD Edition will retail for $1,299.99.

Of course, the display is one of the biggest selling points of this new convertible laptop. The company says it's the first 12.5-inch convertible Windows 10 laptop in the world to have a 4K Ultra HD display. That's a 3,840 by 2,160 resolution for the touchscreen, which yields 352 pixels per inch.

The Satellite Radius 12 comes with a custom-designed adaptive audio system from Harman Kardon, which means the audio changes automatically, depending on the viewing mode the laptop is in. This new convertible laptop also comes with facial authentication through Windows Hello, a sixth-generation Intel Core processor, 8 GB of RAM and can be set up to have a 256 GB or 512 GB solid state drive. The Satellite Radius 12 packs all of that power into 2.9 pounds with a 0.6-inch profile, which may help in the all-important portability department.
