HTC has released a short teaser video for a press event on Oct. 20 in New York City. The company is widely expected to unveil its rumored HTC One A9 smartphone, which will be one of the first handsets to ship with Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

When HTC unveiled the HTC One M7 in 2013, the company saw many smartphone fans flock to the handset, mainly because it had adopted a new design philosophy that differentiated it from every other plastic Android smartphone.

HTC built the One M7 out of a unibody piece of aluminum that was specially cut to make the smartphone feel great in the hand, and its front consisted of a 4.7-inch 1080p Super LCD3 display and excellent front-facing stereo speakers.

When it was time to take the wraps off of HTC's 2014 flagship smartphone, it didn't deviate from the ingredients that made the HTC One M7 a hit; the One M8 offered users a similar design, larger display and improved cameras.

The introduction of HTC's 2015 flagship and subsequent sales of the HTC One M9 have been a disappointment compared with its predecessors and the company's CEO, Cher Wang, announced in June that the company was planning to launch a "hero" device that would be launched in October. Many believed the smartphone would be the HTC O2, but numerous leaks all point to it being the HTC One A9.

The HTC One A9 has leaked multiple times in the form of reported specs and leaked images. The smartphone has a design heavily influenced by Apple's iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6s and 6s Plus, complete with matching plastic antenna channels.

HTC is getting closer to its Oct. 20 event and just posted a teaser video on its Twitter page, which reads: "The next evolution of the One. See it 10.20.2015 at 9 a.m. PST/12 p.m. EST."

The HTC One A9 is expected to be one of the first smartphones to ship with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box and will reportedly include a five-inch 1920 by 1080 display, Snapdragon 617 octa-core processor, 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage and microSD expansion slot.

The One A9's camera capabilities are believed to include a 13 megapixel rear camera with OIS (optical image stabilization), 4 megapixel UltraPixel front-facing shooter and 2,150 mAh battery.

We'll keep you posted on any new information regarding the HTC One A9 as it becomes available.
