It's official. Bridget Jones's Baby has a due date.

The third installment in the Bridget Jones movie franchise, directed by Sharon Maguire, is set to be released on Sept. 16, 2016. Renee Zellweger returns to play her titular character, Bridget Jones, while Colin Firth also reprises his role as Mark Darcy.

The franchise is based on Helen Fielding's novel of the same name, which is also a reinterpretation of Jane Austen's iconic novel, Pride and Prejudice (hence, Mark Darcy). Opposite Mark Darcy is the caddish Daniel Cleaver, played by Hugh Grant.

Fans may remember that at the end of the Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, Bridget said "yes" to marrying Mark, her longtime love. The said sequel was released in 2004, while the first movie, Bridget Jones's Diary, was released in 2001.

Bridget Jones's Baby has several surprises up its sleeve as early as now. First is Bridget's obvious pregnancy—and the excitement as to how the unconventional heroine is going to take to motherhood. Second is a little something for all the brokenhearted and still-grieving "McDreamy" fans.

Patrick Dempsey who played dashing neurosurgeon Derek Shepherd in ABC's Grey's Anatomy recently hinted at the movie via Instagram.

"Nice to be working in England. Renee and Colin are an absolute joy to work with! A good couple of days rehearsing at Pinewood Studios. I really like it here!" he wrote.

A "pregnant" Zellweger has recently been spotted filming for the movie. The 46-year-old actress was seen dragging a Christmas tree through the snowy streets of London, as opposed to the scene in an earlier Bridget Jones movie where she ran through the snow in her underwear.

Feel old enough already? Think of it this way: someone who was born the year Bridget Jones's Diary first came out, will be a 15-year-old upon the release of the third movie.
