Fitness buffs have a new activity tracker to adorn their wrists. Meet Shine 2, the successor of Shine, from Misfit.

On Tuesday, Oct. 20, Misfit took the wraps off the Shine 2 wearable, which is sleeker, smarter and more robust than its previous iteration. The second-gen wearable not only packs in upgrades to its hardware but also sports an improved design.

"We've packed a lot into Shine 2, adding more functionality into an even smaller form factor with the same battery life," revealed Adam Mack, Misfit's director of mechanical design. "We didn't compromise on craftsmanship or the user experience."

The Shine 2 has an aluminum body and houses a 3-axis accelerometer and 3-axis magnetometer, which enables it to track and monitor a user's sleep and activities better. Since the Shine 2 does not have a screen, users need to deploy its 12 multi-color LED lights to read the time, their progress, alerts and other notifications.

Touted as the company's "most advanced wearable," the fitness tracker also has a new vibration motor that notifies a user if there are incoming texts or calls. This also acts like a silent alarm.

Meant to be an all-day wearable, Misfit asserts — thanks to its Misfit move feature — the Shine 2 can even be configured in such a manner that it will give the wearer reminders throughout the day on movement so that they can stay active.

With the Shine 2, the wearer will be comfortable using the lightweight fitness tracker, which is just 8mm thick.

The device also has Bluetooth 4.1 to aid smoother and quicker syncing. The water-resistant (up to 50 meters or 164 feet) device's battery life is said to last six months.

Misfit's Shine 2 fitness tracker is available in two hues, Carbon Black and Rose Gold, and is available for purchase from Misfit online. The fitness tracker is priced at $99.99 and will hit physical retail stores worldwide in November.

The Shine 2 is also compatible with the company's iOS app and offers support for the Misfit Link app, which enables users to deploy the wearable as a remote control for other connected devices.
