A beefed-up My Career mode in WWE 2K16 essentially let's gamers take their characters through the ranks of the circuit from the NXT division to competing for the World Heavyweight championship in World Wrestling Entertainment's main roster — all while creating intriguing storylines along the way.

Much of that climb up the ladder could be seen via pre-release gameplay footage, from YouTube uploader CMPuLs3, called "First Hour of My Career."

The footage starts with Albert (remember him?) telling a rookie wrestler that he thanks him for choosing the WWE and intends to put him on "the fast track to the NXT title," before putting him in the ring to train with Enzo Amore at the WWE's Performance Center.

After training with Amore, the character checks out his NXT schedule and participates in a tag-team match, paired with Baron Corbin and going up against Aiden English and Simon Gotch. After getting the pinfall in that match, the character's quest within the NXT ranks continues with another tag match.

But trying to be a WWE Superstar doesn't only entail wrestling, as your NXT character will find out. Part of building a persona — whether becoming a babyface or a heel — is learning the art of the interview. How gamers answer questions from Renee Young can affect the trajectory of their careers for the better or worse.

This footage has the character taking the assertive, confident approach, vowing: "I feel sorry for anyone who stands in my way. My era of destruction starts right now."

Those words rubbed Tyler Breeze the wrong way, as he ambushes the character during his match with Zack Ryder. Still, the character backs up his words, scoring a win over Ryder for a big NXT victory. That, of course, paves the way for the character to meet Breeze in a match, which ends this footage.

Overall, this gameplay video is proof how fun this My Career mode can be in taking an unknown to WWE glory. The setting should be a big reason the WWE Universe and gamers alike rush to stores October 27 to purchase WWE 2K16.
