Lucasfilm issued a statement as the "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" week was coming to a close, thanking fans from everywhere for the support they had shown.

The full trailer for the movie was released across platforms earlier in the week following a sneak peek which was seen by more than 16 million people during ESPN's Monday Night Football. Within 24 hours, the trailer had racked over 112 million views, a feat fitting after the two teasers before it also amassed record-breaking numbers.

The guys and gals over at Lucasfilm were definitely stoked at this kind of turnout but more than just the millions of views, they were excited about the kind of reaction audiences around the world had for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." People were not only talking about it but were also posting reaction videos and making memes. There were cheers and tears from fans of all ages and there was also the matter of advance ticket sales.

It had been expected that quite a buzz will surround ticket pre-selling for the movie but it was still impressive to see how it all went down, with websites not only slowing down but actually crashing to the immense volume of people trying to get their hands on tickets well in advance of the movie's December release.

Again, Star Wars fans set the record for the biggest number of tickets sold in advance within 24 hours, across different countries. In the UK, for instance, over 200,000 tickets were bought in the first day of selling alone. Fortunately, there are still a lot of tickets available for opening weekend and the following days. (Surely you're not thinking of just watching the movie once, right?!)

All that craziness prompted Lucasfilm to speak out, saying that they are "totally overwhelmed by the enthusiasm [they've] seen from fans," not just during "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" week but throughout the days leading up to the movie.

"Thank you all for making the Star Wars universe what it is, and for keeping it alive and growing and meaningful. Star Wars is back and beginning an exciting new journey, and it's because of you."

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is set to hit theaters Dec. 18.
