It looks like producer and showrunner Greg Berlanti is having an excellent fall — when it comes to television, that is. Supergirl, the Berlanti-helmed CBS television adaptation of DC Comics' Girl of Steel, played by Melissa Benoist, is officially the most-watched premiere of the 2015 fall season.

The superhero show usurped NBC's tattoo-laden crime procedural Blindspot — which, coincidentally, is also a Berlanti production, giving the executive producer the top two slots for the top two shows.

According to Nielsen ratings, Supergirl scored a 3.1, ringing up about 13 million viewers, most of which belong in the 18 to 49 demographic (comparatively, Blindspot drew around 10.6 million viewers). In an interesting twist, the gender split skewed in a way most wouldn't have predicted for the series debut, reigning supreme in every key male demographic, as well as raking in 58 percent of young female audience members. The gender breakdown might be considered extremely heartening to some, given actress Benoist's unspoken take on the show as a feminist work, which she elaborated upon in an interview with Stephen Colbert.

If you're a little late for the Supergirl train, watch the trailer for the series premiere in the video below, and check out the pilot here.
