We have already delved on the unveiling of Samsung's supersized 18.4-inch Galaxy View tablet, which kicked off on Wednesday, Oct. 28. Samsung is claiming this brand new device is built as a mobile television.

The company touted this monstrous tablet emulates the feel of watching a 60-inch television.

"It was never a slate," said Dennis Miloseski, vice president of Samsung Design America. "It was never just a big display."

Specs-wise, this 18.4-inch tablet sports 1,080p display. Microsoft's Surface Pro comes with 12-inch screen while Apple's iPads boast 9.7 inches.

It weighs 5.8 pounds, which makes it quite hefty. Although, according to Samsung, the tablet is not really planned for portability.

This device cannot be carried inside a backpack as it measures 452mm long x 276mm wide x 11.9mm deep (about 17.8 inches x 10.9 inches x 0.5 inches).

What's more, it is running on Android 5.1 Lollipop. View likewise houses a 2.1-megapixel shooter, stereo speakers and Wi-Fi. It supports LTE networks as well.

Loaded With Streaming Apps

Since it was engineered for viewing purposes, Samsung loaded it with a slew of streaming apps, including Hulu, Netflix, CNN, HBO and a lot more.

The user's media selection, however, will vary by market. Users from the UK, for instance, will get BBC iPlayer.

Adjustable Kickstand

Perhaps, one of the selling points of Samsung's View is its adjustable kickstand which can be spotted at the back of the device. This allows the tablet to stand upright akin to a television.

It is worth noting, though, that this kickstand does not lie completely flat. As such, the user needs a special travel case or bag in order to travel with the device.

The company does say it is already working on its very own case for its Galaxy View. According to the Samsung, a possibility exists that third-party accessory makers will also produce their own versions of their travel bags specially designed for the Galaxy View.

The company added its new device is really intended for use within the home, which explains why it does not lay flat like a regular tablet.

On the top of the kickstand feature, one can find a handle, making it easier to lift the device from one room to another.
