Huawei has a new upper mid-range smartphone in store, launching the beautiful G7 Plus with a premium design and great specs for its category.

Most of the talk recently surrounding Huawei has been related to the new Nexus 6P, but the device maker also has other exciting offerings besides the new Google flagship.

The new Huawei G7 Plus doesn't claim to be a top-notch flagship with the latest and greatest specs to compete at the high-end segment of the smartphone market, but it definitely has plenty to offer to budget-conscious shoppers.

The mid-range category has evolved in recent times and a number of handsets moved past mediocre specs to offer a more-than-decent performance without breaking the bank. The Huawei G7 Plus is one of those handsets, now launching with some impressive specifications for its $330 price tag contract-free.

The handset sports a 5.5-inch full HD display (1080p) and packs an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor clocked at 1.5GHz, coupled with 3 GB of RAM.

Other specs include 32 GB of expandable storage, a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front shooter, dual-SIM support, 4G LTE and a large 3,000 mAh battery.

The smartphone has a stylish design made almost entirely out of metal, with just a couple of plastic panels to hide its antennas on the back. The Huawei G7 Plus also features a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner for extra security, located just below the main camera.

On the software front, the handset runs Android 5.1 Lollipop with Huawei's EMUI 3.1 on top, but should get an update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow sometime in February 2016.

The Huawei G7 Plus comes in gray, silver and gold color options, but it made its debut only in Thailand and China for now. The smartphone is expected to hit more markets in the future, but it remains unclear for now just when and where it will expand its availability.

It may not be as high-end as the Huawei Nexus 6P flagship developed in collaboration with Google, but the Huawei G7 Plus is bound to attract plenty of interest of its own with this great combination of specs and affordability.
