There aren't many music editing apps on Android, and that has a lot to do with the operating system's latency problems, which means audio is slightly delayed during recording.

Music editing should get a little better now with the launch of Open Labs' new Stagelight app. Initially, the app was launched first for Windows and was designed to be used by anyone. Whether or not you are an amateur or professional, Stagelight should work just fine.

Also, it is deemed as an alternative to the popular GarageBand music editing app, but mainly for those folks without a Mac.

One of the best things about Stagelight is its easy to use user interface. Mixing tracks should not be an issue here, and if you want original music tracks for a small fee, Stagelight offers popular music from musicians such as Timbaland and Linkin Park. This isn't surprising since both Timbaland and Linkin Park are part owners of Stagelight.

What about importing audio and testing beats from the sound library? No problem, Stagelight makes it possible without much of an effort.

With the app being so easy to use, the move to Android was truly a natural step, because by developing the app to work well in a touchscreen environment, things could become much easier for the user.

According to the developer, the app's user interface has been updated to fit all screen sizes, whether it be from a smartphone or a tablet. Furthermore, users can begin a project on one device and finish it on another via Stagelight's mobile expansion feature.

For those who are knee deep in social media, Stagelight makes it possible to share edited tracks on Facebook, Google+, Twitter, Tumblr, dmail or even SoundCloud.

The app even comes with in-app lessons that are designed to teach newcomers on how to create their first original music track.

"Stagelight is the first music creation app that allows people to start for free and unlock capabilities as they progress" said Cliff Mountain, President and CEO of Open Labs. "With our in-app lessons and unlockable features, music listeners can now easily become music makers in 10 minutes or less. We want to 'Free The Music' in everyone, which is why we have expanded to Android, the largest operating system in the world."
