We all know that the Transformers were aliens from Cybertron who came to earth after the destruction of their home planet. These new transforming toys have no affiliation with Hasbro or Transformers, but, just like the metal and plastic-molded toys that change from robot to car or rocket, the WooBots are also “more than meets the eye.”

WooBots are a new line of wooden toys with elastic rope hidden in their joints that allow each section to turn and rotate 360-degrees. Each different model can transform from a robot into a car, truck, bus, aircraft carrier, or fighter plane.

The best thing about the WooBots is they are made out of natural wood which gives them a distinct and timeless look about them and make them durable and better than “nasty plastic” toys.

According to the WooBots product description, although each model comes with pre-determined forms, the possibilities for play are actually endless and limited only by the imagination. Since each block can be swiveled and moved 360-degrees, various shapes can be explored and created by kids and kids-at-heart, who play with them.

The WooBots Kickstarter campaign has a modest goal of $10,000 which they say will enable them to deliver their first batch of toys to backers just in time for Christmas.

The campaign has already surpassed its initial goal.

Check out the official Kickstarter page for WooBots to get in on crowd funding this great toy idea and be among the first in the world to have your very own set of WooBots. They also have some pretty neat animations showing how exactly each model transforms from wooden robot to vehicle and back again.
