Amplitude, the classic rhythm-action game, will be finally released for Sony PlayStation 4 (PS4) on January 2016.

Harmonix developed the video game for the PlayStation 2 (PS2) in 2003. North American gamers were the first to play the game in March 2003, and European gamers had to wait slightly longer as Amplitude made its Europe release in September 2003.

The reboot has been delayed a number of times; Harmonix initially planned to release the game in March 2014. It then pushed the launch to summer, and now it seems the game is coming close to completion.

"We're excited to announce that the PlayStation 4 version of Amplitude will release on January 5th, 2016 via the PlayStation Store for $19.99," per Amplitude's Kickstarter page.

Harmonix started a Kickstarter project and wanted $844,000 to launch the game. Harmonix received more than the amount expected and the developer confirmed that people who pledged $40 or more will be able to play the game by Dec.23 - two weeks before the official release.

The official PlayStation blog has also confirmed the arrival of Amplitude on PS4 in January 2016.

The gameplay of Amplitude includes a single-player campaign, along with competitive and cooperative local multiplayer modes. Gamers have to play the campaign in a sci-fiction concept album that includes a narrative, which surfaces via the game's lyrics, music and visuals.

"With a soundtrack of more than 30 songs, Amplitude includes music from exciting artists such as Darren Korb (Transistor), C418 (Minecraft), Insomniac Games, and Freezepop, as well as songs from Kickstarter backers, and music crafted by Harmonix's talented in-house composers," per the PlayStation blog.
