Preparing for some holiday shopping and traveling?

Well, you will be pleased to know that Google Maps has updated its iOS app for your iPhone or iPad — as of Monday morning — to now include business hours for your destination and gas prices along your route.

Although the two features aren't directly related to mapping, they are certain to be welcomed by Maps' millions of users ... especially with the holidays around the corner.

If users have to swing by Toys 'R' Us for some last-minute shopping and punch in the address in Maps, the app will notify them that the nearest one closes at 9 p.m. EST for example. In addition, it will suggest other recommendations, where they could also pick up toys that might even be opened until later in the night — a Walmart or Target for instance. And Maps will make the smart suggestions according to users' proximity to them.

Meanwhile, the gas-price feature allows users to get the nearest gas stations in addition to their prices across the United States and Canada. Seeing the best prices offered will allow customers to get the best deals and save money. The app automatically updates gas prices as they might fluctuate, continuing to keep users abreast of the best deals at the pump out there, wherever they might be.

The revamped Google Maps for iOS also got rid of any lingering bugs for smoother use.
