Users of the iPhone 6/6s and the iPhone 6 Plus/6s Plus will soon have three high-quality lenses to pick from.

Camera lens maker Zeiss has teamed up with Fellowes' mobile phone accessory brand ExoLens to provide three new lenses initially for the iPhones: wide-angle, telephoto and macro lenses.

The companies used CES 2016 in Las Vegas to reveal the new lenses, which are slated to hit stores in the late second quarter of 2016.

"We are thrilled to announce our new relationship with Zeiss, [which] has been setting standards in optics for almost 170 years," says Fellowes CEO John E. Fellowes. "Following the launch of our new ExoLens mobile phone photography line last year, our partnership with Zeiss will enable unique and innovative consumer lens solutions."

Fellowes touts that "ExoLens with optics by Zeiss" is going to redefine quality in the field of mobile photography, providing high-quality results for users.

The wide-angle and telephoto lenses are expected to offer out-of-the-ordinary image performance, which comes with remarkable edge-to-edge contrast. The macro lens comes equipped with a zoom feature for a more enhanced image composition. These lenses can be installed on the iPhones by means of an aluminum mounting bracket.

Winfried Scherle, the boss of the Zeiss Consumer Optics business group and Carl Zeiss AG's Executive Vice President, believes that the quality of an image is greatly influenced by the camera's lens plus its technical properties. He says that through the partnership with ExoLens, Zeiss will be able to offer mobile phone photographers support for their creativity by means of high-performance tools, such as these newly unveiled lenses.

Scherle claims that the lenses are the best in the market so far. He touts that Zeiss has already attained the greatest possible technical balance "between a small size, low weight and high image quality."

The lenses will be available for purchase via specialty stores, the ExoLens website and Amazon. Zeiss and ExoLens are also planning to come up with lenses for other smartphones down the road. An ExoLens kit is already available for the Samsung Galaxy S6/S6 edge, leaving us to wonder which smartphone will be getting the lenses next.

In June 2015, Ztylus case and its rotating 4-in-1 lens attachment hit the market, enabling users to take high-quality pictures with the iPhone. It won the best smartphone accessory award during the CE Week conference held in New York during that time.

The attachment is placed at the back of the phone. With a simple flick, a new camera lens will sit over the lens of the iPhone. Users can opt to use a wide-angle, fisheye, circular polarizer or macro lens.
