Ferrari made public that future owners of the drop-top California T may improve their roadsters with a Handling Speciale package.

The Maranello-based auto manufacturer tweaked the settings in the dampers and also stiffened the springs in order to enhance the sportive driving capabilities of the car. The improvements come together with a "marginally reduced ride comfort," the automaker points out.

Ferrari promises that drivers will instantly notice these changes in Sport mode, where the gear shifting will be easier, with both up and down-shifts happening quicker than before. Enhancements to the traction logic are also noticeable, particularly "when exiting corners and on more bumpy road surfaces."

One staple of the sports car manufacturer is its distinct roaring exhaust sound. That element was reworked to offer a more aggressive tune to the California T's G-loaded acceleration. To get a better idea about California T's performance, know that the car sprints from 0 to 60-mph in a mere 3.3 seconds.

The sports car gets to that speed thanks to its combo of twin-turbo 3.9-liter V-8 engine, which packs 553 horse power and 557-pound-feet of torque.

Aside from the mechanical overhauls, the HS delivers a few aesthetical changes in Ferrari's upcoming model. California T's featuring the HS package will get their rear diffuser and front grille coated in a matte Grigio Ferro Met color.

The upped visual identity of the HS also includes matte black fences and tailpipes in the back. To honor its clients, Ferrari offers a neat little plaque inside the cockpit, just a reminder that you are a premium customer.

Those of you who lately won the lottery and consider purchasing such a Ferrari model, take heart: the T model has a base price of slightly more than $231,000. There is no official information about the special option's price yet. The previous HS option, which improved the 2012 edition of the Ferrari California, required a little more than $7,000.

If it is too much or too little for the overhaul of the already-beastly car, only passionate sports car drivers can say.

Guests at the Geneva Motor Show in March will get to see and touch the HS equipped Ferrari California T.
