Thought Microsoft was done attacking Apple in its Surface Pro 3 ads? Think again. The company launched another ad where the Apple MacBook was constantly at a disadvantage to the Surface Pro 3, and it appears good ole Microsoft is in for another beating from Apple fans once more.

Why is Microsoft targeting the MacBook Air?

Since the first MacBook Air launched back in 2008, the device has become quite common among tech-savvy users, students, and in the workplace. Consumers just love thin, which may have a lot to do with how thin it is and the fact that it has an Intel Core processor inside.

This is the device that arguably pushed Intel to begin the Ultrabook trend, and so far it has worked out fairly well for the chip company and the Windows based laptop makers.

However, it is now back to school time and Microsoft wants to sell the idea of the Surface Pro 3 to consumers. The company believes the best way to do this is to pit the MacBook Air and the Surface Pro 3 in string of face-off ads, hoping that back to school consumers will consider taking up Microsoft on its offer.

The new ad is titled, "Surface Pro 3 - Power" and as usual, we get to see both devices on-screen for 30 seconds. The ad kicks off with the MacBook Air owner talking about the Surface Pro 3 and how much it is capable of running Photoshop since it is also a tablet. The conversation then quickly turns to the touchscreen on the Surface Pro 3, something the MacBook Air does not have.

We get to see the Pen in action, and the ad even talks about how the Surface Pro 3 is similar in performance to the MacBook Air.

It's an interesting ad, and it goes to show that Microsoft is serious about its hardware business. Still, while the Surface Pro 3 can be seen as a great tablet, the same cannot be said when the device is transformed into a laptop. A standalone laptop will always come out on top unless Microsoft finds a way to fix the trackpad and keyboard problems that is causing it to be less of a desirable laptop.
