Considering the drama surrounding Metal Gear Solid V before launch, the fact that Metal Gear Online is so good came as something of a surprise. The third iteration of multiplayer stealth action is easily the best of the bunch - The Phantom Pain was already a massive game, and Metal Gear Online could have been a total afterthought. Thankfully, that couldn't be farther from the truth.

Now that Metal Gear Online is officially available on every platform, it's time for the multiplayer mode to start expanding. As such, Konami has just unveiled the game's next major DLC update: due out in March, the $4 Cloaked in Silence pack certainly won't break the bank. If you want to hold off on buying DLC, Konami also announced a free expansion to The Phantom Pain's FOB infiltration missions as well.

However, the real star of the show is the multiplayer mode's newest Unique character: as the DLC's title implies, Quiet will be joining Ocelot and Snake as one of Metal Gear Online's extremely powerful heroes.

All of Quiet's iconic abilities will be available for players to use: not only does she come equipped with a powerful sniper rifle, but her cloaking abilities and extreme agility as well. Quiet was easily one of the best companions in The Phantom Pain - and there's a good chance she'll be one of the best combatants in Metal Gear Online, too.

Three new maps will also be making their debut as a part of Cloaked in Silence:

• Coral Complex:
A dedicated Mother Base environment, allowing players to access tall towers and use storage containers and other internal areas as cover for tactical advantage. Coral Complex mixes open areas and a myriad of hiding opportunities.

• Rust Palace:
Set within Afghanistan, the Rust Palace is a large multilevel building. The skeletal nature of the decrepit ruin means that cover is scarce, while the internal areas are rich in dusty rooms and high-up sniping positions.

Azure Mountain:
An outdoor plain under Africa's baking sky. A small cluster of buildings offers scant cover, with only derelict walls and occasional scrubland surrounding the massive rock known locally as the Cradle of Spirits.

For those looking at the free DLC, the 'Sabotage' mission type is all about - you guessed it - sabotaging your opponent's base. Players are tasked with disabling an EM Barrier and disposing of a missile launcher before time expires. It sounds to be much more involved than the simple elimination-style matches currently available, while maintaining the intimacy of FOB infiltrations ... plus, it's hard to argue with a price tag of 'free.'

Finally, Konami is introducing a number of 'Appeal Packs' - for $2, players can equip a number of different emotes. It's not exactly game-changing, but it should give players a little bit of extra customization if they want it.

While Konami has yet to announce an official launch day for Cloaked in Silence, expect Metal Gear Online's next wave of DLC to hit sometime this March.
