It seems even a high-profile and award-winning director like Steven Spielberg does not want to have a taste of The Force because he just announced that his film "Ready Player One," which was previously set to open in December 2017, will move its opening date to March 2018. The announcement was made after "Star Wars Episode VIII" Director Rian Johnson moved the second installment's opening from May to December of the same year.

"Star Wars Episode VIII" supposedly moved its opening date to Dec. 15, 2017 to effectively flesh out and further emphasize some of the new characters in the saga.

While Spielberg could have kept the opening date, it appears he is not too keen on going head-to-head with the space opera. Especially, considering its first installment, directed by J.J. Abrams, broke numerous domestic and international box-office records.

Now fans of the original "Ready Player One" sci-fi novel written by Ernie Cline will have to wait another three months before they finally get to see the story come to life on the big screen on March 30, 2018.

It is probably a smart move for Warner Bros., the studio behind Spielberg's adaptation, since the film probably has a similar, if not the same, fan base as "Star Wars." Now moviegoers will no longer have to debate which film to watch first on Dec. 15.

The change in schedule of the adaptation showing also gives enough time for everyone to refresh their memory or pick up a copy of the novel for the first time and acquaint themselves with its world.

"Ready Player One" is set in a dystopian future when the virtual reality world called Oasis is used for practically everything - from school to hanging out with friends. The story follows Wade Watts, a poor kid who, like many others, is trying to solve the puzzle left by the deceased creator of Oasis because whoever solves the puzzle wins the VR world itself and will become the world's richest in reality.
