Veteran puzzle maker Tony Fisher is making quite a buzz with his latest Rubik's Cube creation. This is because the puzzle does not only require a rich brain; it also entails muscles to actually solve it.

Specs

Fisher's Rubik's Cube measures 5 feet and 1 inch wide on each side and weighs about 100 kilograms (220 pounds).

The volume of what might be the biggest Rubik's Cube in the world is 20,000 bigger than the normal hand puzzle. He made it from January to February 2016.

Completely Functional

Despite the enormous size of the Rubik's Cube, Fisher says it is completely functional. In fact, he demonstrates how it works in a YouTube video.

In the video, Fisher goes around the cube several times, turning the sides one by one and even flipping the huge puzzle. He aims to create a checkerboard pattern to show that his creation is indeed functional.

Bigger Is Better

The ultimate goal of Fisher in creating the huge Rubik's Cube is to set a new world record. While he can go on and make a much bigger one, he explains why he stopped at the current size of the cube.

First, he had to make something that can be build in his house and around his house's compound. This means that the cube must fit his doorways.

Second, he wants the cube to be useable by one person only, just like the original puzzle. Therefore, it should not be too heavy or too big.

Third, he had to make adjustments based on the sizes of the raw materials. One example is the the orange sticky plastic he used, which measures 45 centimeters (about 18 inches) wide.

Fisher says he have heard of another functional puzzle called "Groovik's Cube." However, this is only functional using a remote control and still lacks stickers and the original form of the Rubik's Cube.

Fisher also mentioned a cardboard cube that measures 11.5 feet. However, he was unable to find proof of it and it has not make it to the records yet.

"Guinness does not have it as a record," he says.

Why Make The World's BIggest Rubik's Cube?

Fisher mentioned two reasons. The first one is for the entertainment of the people and second is for his personal achievement.

Fisher has always been fascinated by world records and the Rubik's Cube since 1980s. Thus, he says that it is natural for him to create the world's biggest one.

Proving It Isn't Fake

Fisher is aware that people might say that his Rubik's Cube is fake. Therefore, he goes around the Rubik's cube, made no video cuts and filmed the demonstration in various angles in separate videos.
