Electronic Arts recently announced that high-octane racing game Need for Speed will be released for the PC on March 17, with Origin Access subscribers able to gain early access to the title on March 10.

Already previously released for the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One, the longer wait for the PC version of the game was due to the additional development time needed to "create the definitive PC experience," according to Electronic Arts.

Need for Speed for the PC will launch with all the upgrades that have been added in the console versions of the game, along with manual transmission which is currently being prepared to be introduced to consoles.

If you are one of the PC gamers that are excited for Need for Speed, Electronic Arts has released the minimum and recommended requirements for the title, along with the list of supported steering wheels.

For gamers that are simply looking to play the game and would be willing to sacrifice a bit of quality, here are the minimum requirements for 720p at 30 frames per second at low settings:

  • Operating system - 64-bit Windows 7 or later
  • Processor - Intel Core i3-4130 or any equivalent processor, with 4 hardware threads
  • Memory - 6 GB of RAM
  • Graphics Card - AMD Radeon HD 7850 2 GB, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2 GB, or any equivalent GPU compatible with DirectX 11 with 2 GB of memory
  • Hard Drive - free space of 30 GB

Some gamers would love to see the cars that they collect in Need for Speed at the intended quality though. Here are the recommended specifications for 1080p at 60 frames per second at high settings:

  • Operating system - 64-bit Windows 7 or later
  • Processor - Intel Core i5-4690 or any equivalent processor, with 4 hardware threads
  • Memory - 8 GB of RAM
  • Graphics Card - AMD Radeon R9 4 GB, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 4 GB, or any equivalent GPU compatible with DirectX 11 with 4 GB of memory
  • Hard Drive - free space of 30 GB

Hardcore racers would want to have a steering wheel in their hands while they drive through the streets and tracks of Need for Speed instead of a controller, and here are the supported wheels for the game:

  • Thrustmaster TX, Thrustmaster T150, Thrustmaster T300 and Thrustmaster T500
  • Logitech G27, Logitech G29 and Logitech G920
  • Fanatec CSR

Need for Speed features outstanding graphics and deep customization capabilities, bringing the franchise back to its roots of underground street racing.
