Ladies and gentlemen, you may start your engines as EA recently announced when the highly anticipated Need for Speed PC version lands on your computers.

In the gameplay trailer video, it shows that on March 17, PC gamers will start shifting gears in the latest Need for Speed installment. However, on the game's official website and social media accounts, the game's PC release is actually listed as March 15. If you have a subscription to Origin Access, EA will offer you a sneak peek into the game as early as March 10.

Players who already purchased the console version of the game on Xbox One or PlayStation 4 will be happy to know that EA is preparing to introduce manual transmission features.

EA tells its fans why the long wait for the PC variant of the racing game is worth it.

"The extra development time has allowed us to create the definitive NFS PC experience. [...] Manual Transmission [...] will be in the game when Need for Speed launches on PC," the gaming company says. The Need for Speed community asked for the manual transmission to be integrated in the game, and the developers obliged.

EA goes on to say that PC gamers will be able to add peripherals from Fanatec, Thrustmaster and Logitech to complete their wild-driving experience.

EA also shares that the player's feedback counted a lot when it was working on "bringing the best Need for Speed experience possible."

The gaming company notes that the PC variant of Need for Speed will come equipped with all the upgrades and tweaks that were added in the console installments. This means that Legends and Icons updates will land on PC from the get-go. However, the Showcase update will reach PC gamers a little after the official launch.

Previous impressions on the title left the gaming community divided.

On one hand, EA's new digital rights management forces players to be constantly connected to the Internet while playing Need for Speed. On the other hand, the title does pack outstanding visuals and deep customization options, which brings it back to its golden age of underground street racing.
