Wii U gamers who are looking forward to playing "Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare" get prepared to be disappointed as the title will not be making its way to the console.

"Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare" is set for release this fall and will make its way to five platforms - Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, PS4 and PC - but Wii U will miss the boat. Why you ask? Apparently, publisher Activision has deemed so.

The news comes straight from Michael Condrey, the co-founder of developer Sledgehammer Games. Condrey responded to a query on Twitter by a fan who asked if the title was coming to Wii U, revealing that "Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare" would not be making it to the platform.

"...no, no WiiU. That was an Activision decision. We are focused on XboxOne, PS4, and PC," tweeted Michael Condrey in response to the query.

Sledgehammer is working on versions of the impending game for the above-mentioned platforms, whereas High Moon Studios is responsible for the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions.

Activision's decision to give Wii U a miss seems surprising considering the titles from the franchise have made its way to the platform previously in the last two years. However, Activision is not the only publisher shying away from Wii U. Recently, Ubisoft revealed that even though "Watch Dogs" will make it to the Nintendo console, it will be the last "mature" game the company releases on the platform for now.

Come November 4, Advanced Warfare will be the first Call of Duty game in a series of three to be released as part of the franchise's new annual cycle. "Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare" is set to run on a new engine and will pack in new features like futuristic exosuits, which will give gamers superhuman abilities.

The Call of Duty franchise usually makes it to the list of top-selling titles for that particular year. Wii U missing out on "Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare" title could potentially affect the sales and put Nintendo on the backfoot.

"Call of Duty Advanced Warfare" is set to release on November 4 this year for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, PS4 and PC. However, those who pre-order the title can get it a day earlier on November 3, with Day Zero edition owners being eligible for a double XP event that will run throughout the day.
