Soon we will get a chance to watch Hiro and Baymax's weekly heroics in Disney's “Big Hero 6” animated TV series coming in 2017. Set to pick up right where the movie left off, the new Disney XD series will show how 14-year-old Hiro must cope as the little man on campus at the San Fransokyo Institute of Technology after becoming famous for the events in 2014 feature film.

Baymax, of course, will still be around and so will Honey Lemon, Wasabi, Go Go, and Fred – who make up the entire “Big Hero 6” team. They will all still be teaming up to protect their city from all the hi-tech, scientifically enhanced villains running amok.

According to Entertainment Weekly, “Big Hero 6” for Disney XD will be executive produced by Nick Filippi, Mark McCorkle and Bob Schooley. The latter two were also behind Disney's hit animated series, “Kim Possible.”

Gary Marsh, president of Disney Channels Wordwide said that the super hero adventures in the world of San Fransokyo were inspired by Marvel and a “Big Hero 6” animated series will give them a chance to explore that world and unique characters even more.

“Our colleagues at Walt Disney Animation Studios have created a brilliant new world, inspired by Marvel, with vivid, unique characters. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to further develop these characters into a world class animated series — full of fun, action and the kind of endearing storytelling that only Mark, Bob — and Baymax — can deliver,” he said

“Big Hero 6” won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature at the 87th Oscars and a video game, Big Hero 6: Battle in the Bay was also released in October 2014. An app based on the movie also allow players to play in robot tournaments just like Hiro in Big Hero 6: Bot Fight.

Both Hiro and Baymax are playable characters in Disney Infinity Marvel Super Heroes, and will also be featured, along with their home of San Fransokyo in the upcoming Kingdom Hearts III.
