DC just scored big with its latest casting of Academy Award-winning actor J.K Simmons as Commissioner Jim Gordon for both upcoming “Justice League” movies.

No stranger to the comic-turned-movie crowd, Simmons also played a picture-perfect J. Jonah Jameson in the "Spider-Man" films directed by Sam Raimi.

Alas! Simmons had previously expressed hope that he could reprise the role of the Daily Bugle publisher, with this switch over to the DC universe, but with this, it looks like chances of him coming back for the "Spider-Man" reboot with Tom Holland as the new web-slinging superhero are next to none.

Still, if anyone can pull off Commissioner Gordon after Gary Oldman's take on the role in the Chris Nolan “Dark Knight” trilogy, it's Simmons.

The news was broken exclusively by The Hollywood Reporter, which also reported that Simmons will next be featured in "The Meddler" along with Susan Sarandon and Rose Byrne in April.

Behind-the-scene photos from the set of “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” already revealed some action taking place at the Gotham City Jail. Moreover, with Ben Affleck as Batman, who will also appear in “Suicide Squad” opening this month, there are plenty of villains and bad guys to keep Commissioner Gordon busy for many DC films to come.

The first “Justice League” movie is scheduled to begin filming in mid-April, with a release date set for Nov. 17, 2017. A sequel to the superhero team-up movie is also scheduled to come out in theatres on June 14, 2019.

Some “Justice League” heroes will be introduced on March 25 when “Batman v Superman” comes out in theaters.

Batman and Superman (Henry Cavill), will be making appearances, and so will Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) and Aquaman (Jason Momoa) – aside from “Justice League” the latter two are also set to star in their respective standalone films.

Joining them will be the recently announced inclusions of The Flash (Ezra Miller) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher).

The screenplay for the “Justice League” films were written by Chris Terrio and will be produced by Charles Roven, Zack Snyder, and Deborah Snyder for Warner Bros.
