Verizon and AT&T have already confirmed they will offer the HTC One M8 for Windows smartphone. A new report now claims Sprint and T-Mobile will also get the flagship Windows Phone 8.1 device.

Microsoft can give Nokia the credit for increasing sales of Windows Phone-based smartphones. That increase has resulted in Microsoft outright buying Nokia and its Lumia handsets. Microsoft has also dropped Windows Phone licensing fees in an effort to get more companies to manufacture smartphones running Windows Phone 8.1.

HTC took advantage of Microsoft's offer and took its Android-based HTC One M8 flagship and swapped out Android for Windows Phone 8.1. The device features the same hardware and specifications of its Android sibling, which opens the possibility of dual-booting Android and Windows Phone 8.1 devices in the future. Verizon is the only U.S. carrier currently offering the HTC One M8 for Windows, which it has priced at $99.99 when signing a new 2-year contract. HTC and Verizon haven't specified how long this exclusivity will last, but considering AT&T's got a sign-up page for the same smartphone with its message of "coming soon," the window looks short-lived.

The smartphone brings a nice change of scenery to the Windows Phone world, in which only Nokia had a flagship device available until now. The aluminum unibody design of the HTC One M8 is one of its best features and the HTC One M8 for Windows brings the same premium design to the table at the attractive price of $99.99 with a new 2-year contract.

It looks pretty evident that all four major U.S. carriers are already anticipating the success of the HTC One M8 for Windows by crashing Verizon's "exclusive." There's still no official word on when we can expect to see the HTC One M8 for Windows offered by AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile, but things are looking up.
