Dictators, despots and business tycoons will be pleased to know that they can now get the Transeco armored edition of Mercedes S500L.

The Mercedes S-Class has been one of the most popular cars for many high profile people. Therefore, occupants of the car are also concerned about their security and, not surprisingly, an armored version of the car will be welcomed by many car owners. Germany-based Transeco has been armoring Mercedes sedans soon after the 600 Pullman was launched and now the company is offering the armored version of the Mercedes S500L.

"The S-Class is the most requested armored Head of State vehicle in the high end market. In more than 25 years of company history over 700 armored sedans and stretched limousines, armored and unarmored, were built by TRANSECO. TRANSECO´s employees are among the most experienced within the industry having armored several generations of the S-class in Bremen, Germany, going back up to the W100 Pullman," per Transeco.

The Transeco armored S500L features a full armored cage around the passenger compartment. The protection is also on the underside of the car and can protect the vehicle from two DM51 grenades. Moreover, the trunk of the car has also been armored to protect the battery and other important electrical components.

Even so, this new armored S-Class stands out. The passengers are ensconced in an armored cage that protects them from small arms and some explosives.

The doors of the Transeco armor version of the Mercedes S500L are also fitted with heavy duty hinges along with a self-closing feature. That way dictators and shady tycoons don't get hernia trying to avoid the paparazzi.

However, the Transeco armor protection also adds a lot of weight to the Mercedes S500L. As it is, the standard S500L weighs 4,800 pounds. After the engineering work done by Transeco, the car gains and additional 3,000 pounds.

The suspension of the car has also been reinforced to prevent the vehicle from collapsing. Transeco has also engineered the wheels and tires, which can withstand the added weight and to keep running even if bullets are fired at the car.

We don't know the sticker price of the car, yet. However, we wouldn't be surprised if it's twice the price of a normal Mercedes S500L.
