The Samsung Gear S2 smartwatch just got a new luxury edition made by de Grisogono and there's no denying that it looks quite impressive.

The blinged-up version turns the Gear S2 into a limited-edition jewelry watch, boasting more than 100 black and white diamonds, a sleek rose gold bezel and an elegant galuchat black bracelet.

The rose gold bezel encrusted with white and black diamonds retains its rotating functionality, serving as a navigation tool for the menus of the smartwatch. This functional rotating bezel is one of the highlights of the original, vanilla Gear S2 and the diamond-encrusted version just adds more style to complement the usefulness.

This special Gear S2 edition aims to combine functionality with luxury and fashion, boasting unique aesthetics.

According to Fawaz Gruosi, de Grisogono founder and creative director, Samsung offered its extensive expertise and high-end technology, while de Grisogono added its luxury craftsmanship proficiency and glamorous design.

"The resulting Samsung Gear S2 by de Grisogono clearly embodies all of our boldness in watch design and our jewellery savoir-faire, while maintaining all of Samsung's technological capabilities and intuitive usage," says Gruosi.

No pricing details are available at this point, though it's safe to assume the luxurious Samsung Gear S2 by de Grisogono will not come cheap and those considering the price (like us) will likely not be able to afford it. The two companies did not even offer a ballpark figure for how much the blinged-up gadget would cost, but did note that the special edition will become available this summer.

The Samsung Gear S2 by de Grisogono will go on sale in Samsung retail outlets, as well as de Grisogono stores.

Aside from the rose gold and diamond-encrusted finish, the Samsung Gear S2 retains the same specifications as the original version. This means that it sports the same 1.2-inch circular Super AMOLED touchscreen with a 360 x 360 pixel resolution (302 ppi), Exynos 3250 dual chipset, 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of internal storage. Other features include a 250 mAh battery, a heart rate monitor, NFC, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and Tizen OS.

The Gear S2 already stirred plenty of interest with its original version, as the circular design and clean overall aesthetics neatly integrate the smart features without compromising its looks. The de Grisogono version makes it look even better, but it's definitely not for everyone.

The two companies made no mention of how many Gear S2 de Grisogono units will be available, but should offer more information closer to launch.
