The Nvidia Shield TV recently received Update 3.1, boosting the features and capabilities of the Android-powered entertainment device.

The most notable mention from the change log: Nvidia Shield TV now supports mouse navigation.

Aside from that, the most popular games on the ecosystem got updated and optimized, and on the list of titles that got tweaked are some from the April game sale.

From the number of important titles that should see better gameplay after the update, worthy of mention are games such as Parallax and Borderlands the Pre-Sequel. GeForce Now games were not left behind, meaning that titles such as Soma and Sleeping Dogs should look smoother and have better gameplay after Update 3.1.

The mouse navigation support is intuitive and self-explanatory. It enables Nvidia Shield TV owners to make use of the right controller stick in a fashion similar to a mouse by using the pointer to navigate the screen. Those who struggled with Google Chrome's browser app, meanwhile, will now find that it is much easier to use.

Although not all apps benefit from the new capability, the Shield TV will embed the function from now on.

Quite a few enhancements come packed in the latest update: the device now easily detects external USB drives, Marshmallow functionality was expanded and stability was improved, and users gained write access to FTP. Furthermore, the update brought SD card formatting and idle/sleep stability.

Last, but definitely not least, the device got the security update from March 2016, which closed quite a few vulnerability loops.

Even if there is nothing revolutionary about the update, it shows Nvidia's commitment to improving its entertainment gadget and the user's experience along with it.

In February, Nvidia released another update for the Shield TV, which contained the Android 6.0 Marshmallow and more goodies. The February update also came loaded with Android titles such as Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.

"Nvidia is equipping Android developers with fully conformant Vulkan drivers just one week after the specifications launched," read Nvidia's blog at the time.

You may download the new Update 3.1 over-the-air from your Shield Android TV.
