HTC One M8 or One M9 owners on AT&T are in for some bad news: the eagerly anticipated Android Marshmallow update has just been delayed.

While other major carriers in the United States have already upgraded their HTC One M8 and One M9 to the latest flavor of Android, AT&T has been lagging behind. Not only has AT&T delayed the update so far, but it is still facing delays with the rollout.

HTC's Mo Versi, vice president of product management, took to Twitter to announce that AT&T HTC One M8 and One M9 owners will have to wait a little while longer to get a taste of Marshmallow on their devices.

It remains to be seen just how "slight" this delay will prove to be in the end, but it seems that the update won't arrive for at least another couple of weeks. Roughly three weeks could be a plausible estimate for the rollout, provided that AT&T and HTC figure things out and get the necessary approval in two weeks tops.

The unlocked HTC One M9 got the Marshmallow treat just in time for Christmas 2015, while carrier versions of the smartphone started getting the update in Canada early this year, with U.S. versions following afterward.

With April now drawing to an end, AT&T is the tardiest carrier when it comes to delivering the Marshmallow update to its HTC One M8 and One M9. It's the last carrier that has yet to roll it out, and customers will surely not be happy about this additional delay.

On the bright side, at least the unlocked versions of the smartphones are compatible with AT&T's network, and those models already received Android Marshmallow and all of the neat features the new OS brings to the table.

All in all, it seems that AT&T doesn't have much love for HTC devices these days. Aside from these update delays, AT&T is also the only major U.S. carrier that will not be offering the latest HTC 10 flagship to its customers. Verizon already started selling the new powerhouse, Sprint is set to follow on May 13, T-Mobile will offer more details soon, but AT&T confirmed it will skip the HTC 10 altogether.
