Apple's latest iPhone 6 offering is high on desirability, but crazy iFans hankering for the smartphone seem to have taken things to a different level altogether.

A Chinese man has crossed barriers of reasonability (and sanity) and is willing to "rent" out his girlfriend to source funds for the iPhone 6. Photographs of the unnamed Chinese student holding a sign which reads "Girlfriend Sharing" outside Songijiang Univeristy in Shanghai have gone viral on Weibo, which is the Chinese equivalent of Twitter.

The bizarre advert says that the girlfriend is available for hire and interested individuals can study, dine out, play games or date the woman. However, there is a disclaimer - no "funny business." The man even provided pictures of his girlfriend with her vital statistics to those interested.

For those who are wondering about the readiness of the girlfriend in the scheme, the boyfriend alleges she is willing. Hiring the girlfriend has a charge of 10 yuan per hour, 50 yuan per day or 500 yuan per month.

Offering his girlfriend in lieu of raising money for an iPhone may seem extreme, but this is not the first time people have resorted to bizarre activities to get the smartphone. In 2013, post the iPhone 5 launch a couple from Shanghai sold three of their babies to get money for purchasing computers and iPhones.  They were charged with human trafficking. A teenager from Hunan went to another extreme and sold his kidney to get money for buying an iPad and iPhone.

More recently, a man from Saudi Arabia demanded an iPhone 6 as a dowry present from the groom for his sister's marriage even before the smartphone released in Bahrain.

Perhaps, the hiring out his girlfriend to raise money act for an iPhone 6 is merely a charade and the stunt has been pulled to take a dig at those who can go to extremes for the iPhone.
