Olympus has taken the wraps off a new robust camera dubbed the Stylus TG-Tracker, which is designed to withstand rugged conditions.

The company unveiled the Stylus TG-Tracker — a part of its Tough series — on Tuesday, May 24. The camera's sensor-rich design will go down well with outdoor enthusiasts who are on the lookout for an action camera that can withstand tough conditions with ease.

The action camera from Olympus — unlike others in its league — does not depend on the housing for its robustness. It comes sans a housing accessory, which will be sold separately by the company.

The Stylus TG-Tracker boasts waterproofing up to 100 feet or 30 meters. The camera is also dustproof. This tough cookie from Olympus is both freezeproof (up to 14 degrees Fahrenheit) and shockproof (up to 7 feet). If you need further evidence of it being a great no-fuss companion on your next mountaineering or canoeing adventure, then you'll be pleased to learn that it is also crushproof and can withstand force of up to 220 pounds.

The fact that the Stylus TG-Tracker is able to support all these without a housing accessory makes it even more desirable on paper.

For those still not satisfied with the action camera's features, the Stylus TG-Tracker also supports geotagging and Wi-Fi.

"This camera features a reliable Tough capabilities, five sensor systems including GPS, and an ultra wide-angle lens with 204° diagonal angle of view. These features combine to simultaneously record sports images and log data which can be displayed for a rich sense of realism, using the App," notes the company.

The TruePic VII processor on the Olympus camera supports 4K video (at 30 frames per second). It boasts 5-axis electronic image stabilization and has an in-built LED light, which acts as a flashlight too!

The loop movie and time-lapse recording modes are a bonus, and the fact that the device boasts a 1.5-inch LCD that can tilt out is another plus.

The Stylus TG-Tracker camera also has an 8-megapixel 1/2.3 CMOS sensor to capture stills. The device offers microSD card support to a maximum of 128 GB and also packs in a flat-lens cover, which is handy for underwater shooting.

The Stylus Tough TG-Tracker from Olympus is set to go on sale in June and will set consumers back by $349. The action camera will be available in neon green and black options and can be preordered online.
