Olympus has finally taken the wraps off its much-touted and highly anticipated OM-D E-M10 Mark II camera, the successor of the OM-D E-M10.

Pitched as the entry-level camera body from Olympus, the OM-D E-M10 Mark II is svelte and stylish and boasts 5-axis image stabilization and 8.5fps burst shooting.

The mirrorless camera is light and compact. Olympus claims that the OM-D E-M10 is more ergonomic than older-gen models.

Even though the standout feature of the Olympus camera is its 5-Axis Voice Coil Motor (VCM) image stabilization, which gives users a solution to images getting blurred owing to the camera shaking, the device also packs in intuitive video creation capabilities.

"The OM-D E-M10 Mark II allows users to take advantage of 1080p Full HD Video, intuitive touch interface, variable frame rate and a new CLIPS feature, which records short one-, two-, four- or eight-second clips. These clips can then be merged into a final video product in-camera, and then uploaded directly to your favorite social platform using the Olympus OI.Share app," noted Olympus.

The camera also has built-in photo filters. One can select up to 14 Art Filters to suit one's vision. This filter can be used alongside Art Effects to create amazing video and image effects.

The advanced low-light shooting capabilities of the OM-D E-M10 Mark II also lets users shoot in non-conducive conditions effectively. The Olympus camera's lens has a 16MP Live MOS sensor. The device also packs in support for shooting both RAW and JPEG images. The camera offers support for SD cards and has a sensor dust reduction system for images.

The OM-D E-M10 Mark II has an in-built electronic viewfinder (EVF) that boasts a 100 percent field of view. This will let users see more of the scene being captured clearly and aid perfect composition. Moreover, the EVF simplifies shooting in harsh sunlight and situations where one may not be able to see the monitor clearly.

The EVF has a magnification rate of 1.23x and the HD monitor has 1040k dots and offers touch support and tilts 3 inches. If one is more aligned to an optical viewfinder, the Olympus camera is also equipped with a Simulated Optical Viewfinder (S-OVF), which provides a better dynamic range similar to what one would perceive with their eyes.

The camera also offers Live Bulb and Live Time Modes, Live Composite, Photo Story and more features. One can also create 4K time lapses from a maximum of 999 images.

The OM-D E-M10 Mark II is set to ship by the end of August and will cost $649.99 for the body, which is available in silver and black. For those opting for both the body and M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 14-42 f3.5-5.6 EZ lens, it will cost $799.99.
