The folks behind Battleborn are cutting down the price of the hero shooter by $20 and rolling out the "water-bending warrior monk" Alani at the same time as the official launch of rival Overwatch.

Perhaps it's all just a coincidence, but it could also be Take-Two Interactive and Gearbox Software's aggressive marketing move to beat Blizzard in the niche competition.

Battleborn Price Cut

With $20 off the price, Battleborn Digital Deluxe is now available for $54.99, and this package includes all the DLC in the days to come. Meanwhile, the standard edition is up for grabs at $39.99 now.

To get in on the action, gamers can head on over to the 2K Store. Take note that the discount will only last until May 28, 11:55 p.m. PST, so a little bit of haste is recommended.

Alani Joins The Fray

Alani is one of the five characters coming to Battleborn, and at first glance, everyone just knows that she'll fit in the roster well. Also, it seems like she's from the water-bending tribe in Avatar: The Last Airbender, which is pretty awesome.

Her skillset includes Torrent, Wellspring, Riptide, Geyser, Emergence and the passive skill Osmosis. Here's a closer look:

Battleborn open beta testers and players who bought the Digital Deluxe edition or season pass can get their hands on the skillful monk already.

Another character, who goes by the name of Pendles, is also expected to enter the arena "in the next couple months," and needless to say, that's something worth keeping an eye out for.

The Bottom Line

It looks like the competition is starting to heat up, but at the end of the day, the players will decide who will come out of top — of course, playing both games is a good choice too.
